Sunday, October 19th, 2014: Tampa Bay team doctors ordered ailing reliever Frank Lambert to take some time off and deal with his nagging illness. He has been suffering several days with strep throat and might not be available to play for about 4 days.
Lambert has gone to the hill for 31 relief appearances this season, nailing down 3 saves while notching a 1-0 record with a 4.46 ERA. The Tampa Bay reliever has limited opposing batters to a .273 batting average. |

Sunday, October 19th, 2014: The Cleveland Indians have finished a deal with All Star-caliber reliever Chris Ray that will extend his stay in Cleveland at least 3 years and will pay out $9,800,000.
Season-to-date, Ray has rung up 2 saves in 76 relief appearances. He has 55 strikeouts and 29 walks in 70.2 innings while registering a 4.33 ERA and a 6-2 won-lost record. |
 | Enrique Díaz Sidelined for 2 Weeks
Friday, October 17th, 2014: Philadelphia fans will be disappointed to learn that Enrique Díaz suffered a knee contusion while making a defensive play in today's game. After the doctor informed the Philadelphia Phillies manager that Díaz was expected to miss 2 weeks, the manager told the press that the rest of the team would have to step up their play until the center fielder could return. "You can't make excuses in baseball, because there's always a game tomorrow," said the team's skipper.
So far on the season Díaz is hitting .317 with 21 home runs, 102 RBIs and 128 runs scored. He has 167 hits and played in 134 games.
